Solo for cimbalom and harp follows the intentionally misleading-titled pieces after Duet for solo flute, which also explores the different facets of characterisation in my works. The concept of duality is underscored by the need for the duo to work together seamlessly as an ensemble to emulate what a cimbalom-harp hybrid instrument could potentially sound like. This idea is realised through the different interactions throughout the piece, from long drawn motivic lines to call-and-responses, and even gestures, all of which are superimposed together with one another, creating unified or contrasting sound worlds.
